We’ve Only Just Begun - The Work So Far

Since our official launch in January 2021, we’ve worked hard to create a network of women passionate about gender balance at the municipal political table here in Grey Bruce. We’ve talked with other groups across the province and are even listed as a resource on the Association of Municipalities Ontario (AMO) website!

We’ve made presentations to community groups, participated in online charity events and surveyed politicians about what we need to do. We also conducted six online Learning Events, featuring local volunteers and politicians, eager to share what they know about running for and actually sitting at that table. Promoted by social media, over 100 people attended one or more electHER Now Learning Events and received videos and other resources afterwards.

Plans for the upcoming year include the electHER Now Campaign School Series, to be held online from February to April, plus a volunteer-run resource centre for candidates during the 2022 municipal election.

After the results are in, electHER Now will reach out to all new & returning municipal officials to provide additional training opportunituies and create support networks as they face political life in the new term.
